Creative Ideas for Wedding Favors and Place Cards!
Place cards or escort cards are a way for you to direct your guests to their tables in a unique, creative and memorable way. Regalo Design has a wedding favor devision called Regalo Design Wedding Favors & Gifts that offers just that! As a wedding planner we are often asked to create the place cards. I found some of my favorite place card ideas that I wanted to share with you. I have included the photos as well as a description below. Enjoy and take a seat for awhile!
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
1. Pick a Tag: Create this idea by covering a board with your favorite fabric. Pick out the perfect tag and hang them on the board with push pins and stamped table numbers. Make sure you hang them in alphabetical order so it is easy for your guests to find their names.
2. Math Anyone?: Purchase some addition or subtraction learning cards. In the space where the answer is supposed to go write your guests names. The answer to the math problem will be the table number for your guests. Hang them on some yarn with clothes pins.
3. Library Cards: Do you remember going to the library and picking out a card that has information on it for where you could find the book you were wanting? Find old drawers and mismatched cards or cards that go with your theme and write your guest’s name and table number on them. Label the front of the drawer A-C, and so on, based upon how many drawers you have and guests.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
4. Wino?: Find old corks and slice them down the middle. Then, print your escort cards with your guests name and table number. When they arrive at the table they will find custom printed wine bottles with the table number on them.
5. Chalk Board Fun!: Roll out some black paper on each table and secure it with table. Trace a placemat with chalk and write in your guest’s name. Don’t forget to leave a box of chalk on the table for your guests to enjoy entertainment all night long!
6. A Stone for Good Luck!: Find beautiful stones or the standard black/grey stone and write your guests name on the front and the table number on the back. Your guests will be able to take them home as a token of best wishes.
7. Fresh Fruit: I love using fresh fruit at a wedding. Green apples, lemons or limes against a crisp white table cloth is so beautiful! Print off your place cards and use a push pin to attach them to the fruit. If your guests are hungry they can begin eating on the way to their table.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
8. Need a Match?: Purchase some matchbooks that fit your theme or colors and write the name of your guest and table number on them. Hang them on a line with clothes pins to complete the look.
9. Can’t find your seat?: Why not give your guests a compass to help them find their way? Write their name and table number on the inside of the compass to help guide them to their seat.
10. Paper Flowers: I love this idea because you can create the paper flowers with the guests name and table number on them and then when they get to the table they can use those flowers to create a beautiful centerpiece. Make sure to include instructions so your guests know exactly what to do with the flowers.
11. It all started with a ring: The journey you are on began with a ring. Give your guests ring boxes with their name and table numbers on the inside.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
12. Candy anyone?: Candy Bars are all the rage right now! Purchase chocolate bars with beautiful wrapping and print off a label with your guests name and table number. Who knows, before you even get to the party your guests may have already enjoyed this place card.
13. Spring has Sprung: Who doesn’t love a garden tool? Fill a box with rocks and place the garden tools in the boxes with a tag displaying your guests name and table number. This is the gift that gives back!
14. Champagne Toast?: Are you serving champagne at your reception? Instead of putting the glasses on the tables, display them when your guests enter the reception with their name and table number printed on a tag on the inside of the champagne glass. If you want them to wait to pour the champagne, include those instructions on the tag.
15. Specialty Drink: If you are offering a specialty cocktail when your guests arrive display those on a table with a tag that has their name and table number. By the time they finish their drink they may need more assistance finding their table.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
16. Tee Time: If you enjoy golf and are looking for an idea for a golf theme, this is it! These are golf ball tee lights. As your guests find their tables the candles are lit to enhance your table décor.
17. Old Memories: Collect photos of the bride and grooms childhood or life together and write the guests name and table number on the back. Display those on a line with clothes pins. Your guests will enjoy comparing photos at their table.
18. Table Conversation: These place cards are so much fun! Pin a card with the guests name and table number on a fabric board. When they open the card, they will find their table number and a question such as, “If you had 3 wished that could be granted, what would they be?” While you are busy taking photos, your guests will enjoy getting to know each other.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
19. Going on a Trip: Find luggage tags that fit your theme and hang them on the back of the chairs with your guest’s name. These place cards can be reused on your guest’s next vacation!
20. Feels like Fall: The rich colors of autumn are echoed in this forest set among moss. Craft-punched bright paper leaves bearing guests’ names transform bare branches into majestic trees.
21. Going to the Beach: Play up a beach theme with these petite chaise lounges and parasols. Print guest names and table numbers onto decorative paper, and then cut out rectangles and curve them into lounge chairs (pull the paper back and forth along the edge of a table while holding it taut to achieve the wave). Then arrange them in a sand-filled tray, and adorn each seat with a bright umbrella.
22. Birdie getting Water: On your guests water glasses place these place cards to give the appearance of a bird drinking water. They can be customized to fit your colors and are easy to print and display.

Hello! I really love 21 and would love to use it for my beach wedding. Can you please let me know what paper to use to make sure it stays that way and how you printed it?
Thanks so much!!
Angela, the easiest way to do this is to print a full sheet with multiple cards on one sheet. Then you cut them to the proper size and wrap one end in one direction around an object like a penny roll or a marker until you have the shape that you want and then do the other end in the opposite direction. If you use a thick enough paper it will hold the shape. Hope that helps!
my girl friend wanted to know something about this, ill point him to your website, thx
